This was a poem written for our Kfgt Family Christmas Sunday in 2019. Enjoy.

There was Mary, gathering and pond’ring,
Drawing close those things near, dear to her heart.
So much had happened, between the wand’ring;
Her head and heart full with Christ’s imparting.

I’m sure she wrestled to grapple the meaning,
To come to term with all that she had agreed.
But having witnessed such an interweaving,
It must’ve seemed simple to follow your lead.

“How can this be?” she had once asked, amazed.
She was a simple girl, yet committed.
She was young, yet had set her heart to praise.
She’d said, “I’m yours; to You, my heart’s fitted.”

If a small town girl can live so boldly,
Entrusting her life to One so Holy,
So can we.
Before the epic redemption story,
We offer at the altar, our glory,
And decree…

“Oh, what a glorious night! Have you heard?
God, our Saviour, did something so absurd!
He wrapped His Son in flesh, sent from above,
In the care of a girl who’d lived to love.

But He didn’t stop there, oh no indeed!
He had it all planned out to love us strong,
To delight in us and provide our needs,
And to give us a place that we belong.

He drives us to love, by first being loved,
But also gives that choice to follow through
He created this fierce circle thereof,
And outfits us all to speak bright and true.”

So there you have it now.
You have heard of His vow.
All of it is true,
But what will you do?
