Summer is here again.

Church, my desire for each one of us is that the Summer of 2019 would find you refreshed and full of joy! Let us walk fully refreshed with our God and a Joy that is secure.

How many times are we are so busy we ignore the reality of needing rest & recuperation? Helen Keller says it well: “Joy is the Holy Fire that keeps our purpose warm & our intelligence aglow.”

Each of us has a need for our purpose to be invigorated and our minds restored. I know that every once in awhile, the precious Holy Spirit has to reteach me what it looks like to rest. Rest is a beautiful act of worship, though; be still to hear His whispers.

The wonderful thing is we are never left alone to navigate the winding roads by ourselves in life. Refreshing joy is only a turn away. The Bible is our roadmap to that true restoration and refreshment:

Jeremiah 31:25: “I’ll refresh tired bodies, I’ll restore tired souls.”
Proverbs 3:7-8: “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”
Acts 3:19: “…turn back to God so that your sins will be removed, and so that times of refreshing will stream from the Lord’s presence.”

This summer, find those places of rest in His presence. Go there. Spend time with Him.

Pitch your tent this summer next to His stream. Take a nice, long, cool drink. Lay back. Soak up some “Son.” Find something to release your laughter – then spread a little joy.

Have a God-filled summer,

-Pastor Darrell
